Day 2 - Geometry


In today’s math class, the Grade 6s began work on their new math unit - geometry. We covered concepts related to angles, e.g., definition of an angle, types of angles, and constructing angles. We also discussed the many ways to classify figures, e.g., regular/irregular, numbers of sides/angles, number/s of equal sides, number of pairs of parallel sides, types of angles, and concave/convex figures. Students are asked to complete the practice work on p. 34 – 37 of their MMS 6 Practice Books.

We continued researching Djibouti, the country we will be representing at International Day on Thursday, October 5th Students were challenged to complete their research of Djibouti in class today. Everyone was asked to

1.     email me their Djibouti facts

2.     find a picture to represent their fact.

3.     This picture should be printed in A4 size in colour and brought to school ASAP

During our inquiry time, students wrote a test about electricity. Students that completed the test before the allocated time was up used remaining time to work on their math practice work.

.Grade 6s attended French, gym, and music class today.

Students should be working on their IB Learner Profile poster and be ready to present these on their scheduled date. Alex will be presenting tomorrow.

Our Terry Fox Run takes place tomorrow. Students should come to school in their gym uniforms. Remember to bring a ‘TOONIE FOR TERRY’ if you haven’t already done this.

The Welcome BBQ takes place on Monday, October 2nd. Forms are due this Wednesday. Please remember to return your forms.

Our golfing trip takes place on Monday, October 2nd. Forms were due today. Please return these forms if you haven’t already done this.

Some of our PYP classes will be hosting a bake sale tomorrow and Wednesdays. Please bring about $2 if you would like to participate in the bake sale.
