Exhibition

Grade 6s spent today working on various components of their Exhibition project. Groups ran through their presentations on their own. Most groups presented to me too.

Many groups still have many corrections and improvements to make to their slideshows.  Students also worked on media components, action components, oral components, and visual art components.

Some groups met with their mentors today.

We attended a Spring Fundraiser Assembly fundraiser assembly today where we heard that we have surpassed the fundraising goal of $9000. Thank you all for supporting the various events over the past two weeks. Some students in our class attended the bowling trip this morning.

Exhibition

Grade 6s spent today working on various components of their Exhibition project. Five groups did a second run through practicing their presentation. They again received feedback and suggestions on changes to be made and ways to improve their presentation.

Most groups have completed their cue cards. Some need to make improvements to their cue cards. Groups who are behind were asked to complete their cue cards ASAP. Many groups still have many corrections and improvements to make to their slideshows.  I am still waiting for a number of groups to email me their skits in English.  Students also worked on media components, action components, oral components, and visual art components. Many groups still need help from parents in finding someone to interview as well as coordinating the interview. All art supplies must now be at school.

Some groups whose work is on track got to go to gym and out for recess. Students who ordered sundaes got to enjoy these during second lunch.

Some groups met with their mentors today.

We ended the day with a Spring Fundraiser Assembly.

Exhibition

Dear SJA Families,
The Grade 6 class invites you to attend the Exhibition on Friday, May 6, 2016, from 9 am to 11 am, or from 6 pm to 8 pm in the auditorium.
The Exhibition is the culminating task of the IB Primary Years Programme. It is where students work collaboratively to explore a local issue that interests them.  This year’s Grade 6s have chosen the following topics to explore:
Poverty
Terrorism
Industrialization
Animal Abuse
Declining Bee Population
Racism
Issues Facing Aboriginal Peoples on Reserves
Climate Change
Some great reasons why you should attend if your child is NOT in Grade 6 include:
  • Supporting and celebrating with the Grade 6s
  • Learning about these issues
  • Being aware of what will be expected of your child when they are in Grade 6
We hope to see you then.
Sincerely,
The Grade 6 Class

Grade 6s spent today working on various components of their Exhibition project. Five groups did a practice run of their presentation. They received feedback and suggestions on changes to be made and ways to improve their presentation. Students also had a first taste of being in the auditorium for their presentation. Students made many suggestions on how the presentation should work. These ideas will be used to shape their performance.

Groups were asked to make their cue cards a priority to work on today. Many groups still have many corrections and improvements to make to their slideshows.  I am still waiting for a number of groups to email me their skits in English.  Students also worked on survey tables & graphs, media components, action components, and visual art components. Many groups still need help from parents in finding someone to interview as well as coordinating the interview. All art supplies must now be at school.

Some groups met with their mentors today.

Unfortunately, we were so focused on Exhibition work that we missed the Spring Fundraiser assembly. We were sad not to see Mle. Jessica and Ms. Chin get pied!

Tomorrow is Casual Day. Ice-cream sundaes will be served to those who ordered tomorrow.

Remember to send in old batteries that you need to safely dispose of. The Grade 1 and 2 classes at SJA will take care of this for you as part of their UOI.

Bring in Spring Fundraiser pledge forms daily.

There is a bake sale taking place tomorrow.

Look out for math tests coming home today. Please take time to review, sign, and return the test.
