Picasso

Grade 6s attended Art class with Ms. Kerr and Gym class with Mr. Slyk this morning.

After gym, we discussed what progress has been made for International Day which is coming up later this month. Students are encouraged to find large pieces of cardboard for our display. Students are also to research traditional food of Guam and commit to bringing or making a platter of food. Please remember to keep all food nut free.

In math time, we took up Friday’s homework. Our new math lesson was a strategy lesson on logical reasoning. Students worked independently to solve money problems using this strategy. Most students completed all practice work in class. For homework, students should complete practice questions on p. 218 - 219 of the MMS textbook.

In writing time students worked independently on colons, quotation marks, nouns, and verbs.

The annual oral competition takes place in February. Grade 6s are asked to think about topic ideas for their persuasive speeches.

During UOI time, we looked at the life of Pablo Picasso as well as some of his famous art pieces. We then began working on our own Picasso-style self-portraits. This time was a lot of fun.
