Congruency

Grade 6s had French class with Mme. Villeneuve and Gym class with Mr. Slyk this morning.

After gym we discussed the format of the conclusion to speeches. Students then sat to write the first draft of their conclusions. I managed to conference with about ¼ of the class on their counterarguments.

After recess and lunch we had math time. We took up yesterday’s homework. Many students had trouble with to questions 2 and 5. They have the solutions to these problems. They have been asked to attempt these problems again to see if they can arrive at the correct solutions on their own. If students still cannot solve the problem, we will take it up in class/recess tomorrow. Today’s lesson was about congruent figures. Ask your child to explain what the requirements are for a figure to be congruent. Students are asked to complete the practice questions on p. 258 & 259 of the MMS textbook.

UOI time was after recess. We took up yesterday’s work on the history of trade. Students then participated in a trading activity. Half the class played the role of Aboriginals and the other half played the role of Europeans. They were given items to trade with each other. We ended our UOI time with students examining products to determine if they were imports or if they were locally produced.
