And .... the Building Begins

The day Grade 6s have been looking forward to for a month has finally arrived – they started building their electric cars! It was a busy, messy, fun time. We will have more building time on Thursday and Friday.

We had novel study time today. Students met in groups to discuss Chapter 7 of The City of Ember. Students had some time to read Chapter 8 in class. Their response should be completed for homework if they did not get done in class. Our next discussion takes place on Thursday.

Students attended French and math classes today. In math, students wrote their unit test.

Thank you to everyone who sent in items for our bake sale. Students in our class divided up duties to sell items during both recesses and lunches. Thanks for all the hard work, 6s.

The class has begun to work on their summative task for our energy unit. They had the choice between and easier project and a very challenging project. We had takers on both options. All work is to be done in class as students will be assessed on their ATL skills. The project groupings are as follows:

Students should be studying to prepare for tomorrow’s energy unit test. Consider using the mind map and yesterday’s study suggestions with students. When studying I …

·         Read through all notes at least 3 times (mostly out loud)

·         Test myself - Make lists/summaries/draw diagrams of all I can remember without looking at my notes

·         Check to see what I have forgotten/omitted/can’t remember – Reread/ go over these sections again

·         Explain difficult concepts to someone (family members, pets, teddy bear)

·         Ask a family member to quiz you

We are golfing tomorrow. Come to school in your gym uniform.
