Water Balloon the Teachers

Day 10

 In math we continued our new measurement unit. We took up yesterday’s homework on the area of triangles. In our new lesson learned how to find the volume of a triangular prism. We first reviewed how to find the volume of a rectangular prims, which we did last term. Students learned that to do this they need to complete two separate calculations: firstly to find the base area (BA = (b X h)/2 and then Volume = Base Area x height. The tricky part is that two values are called height. Ask your child if they can explain this to you. Students are asked to complete the practice questions on p. 364 - 365 of the MMS textbook.

 We continued working on our new novel study today. Students met in their groups to discuss chapter 3 of Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson. Once discussions were complete, students had some class time to begin reading chapter 4 and working the on the discussion questions. Students are working on point of view as they read chapter 4.  Any incomplete work is due for tomorrow.

We did not have time for our new inquiry unit today. Students are reminded to work on their first project with a parent to find a story of a child, teen, or adult that was suspended, expelled, fired, etc. as a result of something they posted to the Internet or social media. Students have a page of responses to complete. This work is due on Wednesday, May 24^th.

 The Grade 6s attended French, gym, and music class today.

At the end of the day, the Grade 6s had fun water ballooning the teachers as a reward for reaching our fundraising goal this year. It was the perfect day to do this as getting hit with a water balloon was a great way to cool off on a hot day.

 Students are reminded to come to school dressed in their gym uniform for the Laser Tag trip tomorrow. 

The ordering system for June lunch is up and open. Please ensure you place your order no later than May 19th at 4:00 pm. Lunch payment is due by May 23rd 4:00 pm.

Clothing iron-on name labels are now available through Alpa.
