In-Class Spelling Bee

Day 6

 In math we continued our new measurement unit. We took up yesterday’s homework on perimeter and area of rectangles. In our new lesson we used drawings as a strategy for solving problems involving length and perimeter. Students are asked to complete practice questions on p. 351 of the MMS textbook.

We began working on our new novel study today. Students were assigned their own copy of the book Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson as well as a response book. They were given some class time to begin reading chapter 1 and working the on the discussion questions. We will meet on Monday in our first discussion groups.

Our in-class spelling contest took place today. Well done to Farah and Avneet for making it to the next round. The junior competition will take place on Tuesday, from 9 am to 10:30 am in the auditorium. All are welcome to attend.

We had music class in our room today. Mr. Oliver joined us and we came up with ideas for our Arts Night performance. Students have been asked to come up with some dance moves for one of our songs (they know which one). Students also attended French and gym class today.

Students are reminded that tomorrow is Track and Field Day. They should come to school dressed in their gym uniform, wearing hats and sunblock. Bring a sweater as we will be outside all day. Freezies will be sold for $2 at the end of the day.

The ordering system for June lunch is up and open. Please ensure you place your order no later than May 19th at 4:00 pm. Lunch payment is due by May 23rd 4:00 pm.

Clothing iron-on name labels are now available through Alpa.
