Day 4

There were a few regular elements to our day today. The class attended music, gym, and French class.

We also started a new math measurement unit called Perimeter, Area, and Volume. Today’s lesson was about perimeter. We reviewed that perimeter is the distance around an object as well as units typically used to measure perimeter. Students learned that they can create and use a formula to calculate perimeter for figures such as squares, rectangles, and parallelograms. They used the variables ‘P’, ‘l’, and ‘w’ in their formulae. The practiced doing this for a square and rectangle. The class began working on today’s practice work. They are asked to complete the practice work on p. 344 – 345 of the MMS textbook. Look out for the Fractions unit math test coming home today. Please take time to review, sign, and return this test.

The class has been enjoying the in-class practice we have been having for the spelling bee. Everyone is asked to practice the spelling words at home. The in-class contest takes place on Thursday where the top six spellers will be selected.

We used the last segment of the day to continue working on the reading and writing assessment tasks we began yesterday. Our goal is to have this work complete by end of day tomorrow.

Students are asked to please send/ their exhibition Prezi’s and PowerPoints. We will need these as we work on IB Portfolios this week.

Students are reminded to bring their band instruments for music class on Thursday.

The ordering system for June lunch is up and open. Please ensure you place your order no later than May 19th at 4:00 pm. Lunch payment is due by May 23rd 4:00 pm.
