Area of a Triangle

Day 8

 In math we continued our new measurement unit. We took up Friday’s homework on the area of parallelograms. In our new lesson we used grid paper to discover that the area of a triangle is one half the area of a rectangle with the same base and height. Students are asked to complete the practice questions on p. 356 - 357 of the MMS textbook.

 We continued working on our new novel study today. Students met in their groups to discuss chapter 1 of Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson. Once discussions were complete, students had some class time to begin reading chapter 2 and working the on the discussion questions. Students are working on being visualisers as they read chapter 2.  Any incomplete work is due for tomorrow.

The Grade 6 class was introduced to the final inquiry unit for this year as well as the formative and summative tasks for this unit.

 The class had a busy day attending French, gym, and music class. At the end of the day we managed to have a short Arts Night rehearsal. Students are asked to come up with some more dance moves to add to our choreography.

The SJA Spelling Bee takes place tomorrow. We wish Farah and Avneet all the best luck for tomorrow. All are welcome to attend from 9 am to 10:30 am in the auditorium.
