Two Kinds of Stupid

 

We began our day with math. Today we learned about the relationship between distance, time, and average speed. Students used tables and graphs to show distance traveled over time using a continuous line graph. They found the average speed and represented the data using an Input/Output machine. Only a few students completed all practice work during math time. Students who did not get done are asked to complete the practice work on p. 154 – 155 of their MMS 6 workbooks for homework.

We continued work on our Digital Footprint inquiry unit. Students watched a video about Eduardo who was disciplined for posting his activities on-line. We discussed the meaning of the video title ‘Two Kinds of Stupid’, whose fault it was that Eduardo got into trouble, and whether he should have been disciplined for his actions.

 

Students have received their first project for this unit. This project is due in one week, on Tuesday, May 22. Students will need parent supervision and support to find their internet article for this project. Students will search the internet with a parent for other stories about teens and adults losing opportunities because of content posted online. Students will be sharing the story they find with the class next week.

We had our second novel discussion time where we discussed Chapter 3 of Bridge to Terabithia as a class. Students also shared perspectives from different characters in the book. The class was assigned to read Chapter 4 and answer the questions relating to Chapter 4. This is due tomorrow when we will have our next discussion time.

We were treated to watching the JK – Grade 2 Arts’ Night dress rehearsal.

Students had French class today.

We ended the day working on our Arts’ Night performance. We practiced all of our skits today. Dancers continued to work on their routines. Students are to begin thinking of their costumes for this performance. Our performance will take place on Wednesday, May 30^th at 1:30 pm and 7 pm.
