Day 4 – Narrating the Video

Grade 6s continued learning about decimals in math class. Today students focused on completing and correcting the last few lessons on decimals to prepare for the unit test. The test will be written tomorrow.

We continued working on the Polar Expressions writing contest as a class. Some students are still working on their first draft. Others have had their story peer-edited and are writing their good copy. Others have completed all story writing for the competition.

Students had individual conferences with me to hear about their strengths and areas for improvement in fable writing. They will use this feedback to improve their writing later this week.

During today’s inquiry time students continued working on one of their summative projects for this unit. They are creating a video commercial of one of Canada’s provinces or territories using the Physical, Economic, Political, and Social (PEPS) features of the province or territory to attract newcomers. Today’s goal was to record their narration, upload their video, and send me the link. Devices are needed until this project is complete.

Any students that are behind in their work did not get to go out for second recess and used this time to try get caught up.

For our Canada in the World Art Project, students need to find an image of a Canadian landscape to paint on canvas. Students should begin browsing images for this project. The image must be a photograph (can be online) of an aspect of a Canadian region. This image is needed for Wednesday’s class. Students also need an old t-shirt or art smock for Wednesday onwards.

Some students chose to work on their cars during second lunch today.

Please return curling permission forms. These are now past due.

Thank you to all the Grade 6 students for supporting Kindness Day with their toonie donations and kindness messages.

Picture orders are due on Tuesday.
