Mass

Today in math, we reviewed the definition and units of mass. We took time to understand the difference between mass and weight. We examined the relationships between mg, g, kg, and t. Students used these relationships to solve problems related to mass. Students completed up to Q. 2 in class. Thy are asked to complete the remaining questions on p. 240 & 241 in their math text book for homework. The unit test on measurement has been moved to Monday, February due to yesterday's snow day. Our math lesson took up a large chunk of the morning.

Students met in literature circles to share and listen to reflections of chapter 3 of Copper Sunrise. Students had class time to read and reflect on chapter 4. Most students got their reflections completed in class time.

Students submitted their Aboriginal research booklets today. Many students have not completed the booklets. They are asked to work hard to complete the entire booklet.

We used class time to work on speeches today. I met with each student to check on their progress. Please speak to your child about the instructions they received today. Any input from parents is welcomed.

Students attended French and Gym class today.

About Me

When I was really little I wanted to become a firefighter or a
policewoman. I grew a little bigger and wanted to become a veterinarian. Later
in high school, I changed my mind to becoming a teacher and a pilot. I am happy
that one of my childhood dreams have come true. My first teaching experience
was in a high school in South Africa teaching math and science. Mr. Haag and I
have 3 children, Josh, Rachel and Jovana. Almost nineteen years ago we moved to
Mississauga, Canada. We found out what -30º C feels like, why autumn is called
fall, that wolverines are nothing like wolves and that Canada is REALLY big. I
spent a lot of time working and playing with young children and certified to
teach at the primary, junior and intermediate levels in Ontario. I have been
teaching at St. Jude’s for 10 ½ years and I have discovered that teachers never
stop learning.
