MacBeth

Students used the short time we had in class this morning to write their measurement retest as well as their Vikings test.

Students from The Maples arrived at that time to watch the SJA production of MacBeth.  Grade 6s from both schools worked on collaborative activities before the play. They worked in groups to keep a balloon off the ground without using their feet while holding hands in a circle. They played a  human knot game before working together to decide which math functions should be used to solve problems.

 

We then headed to the gym for the performance, which the students enjoyed. After the performance SJA and The Maples got into their houses and participated in house games.

At the end of the day, I met with students to review the progress they have made on their speeches. Each student has been instructed to rewrite or type up a good copy of the  speech and memorise it. Each student also received pointers to focus on for their presentation. They are bringing home a rubric which will be used to grade them and place them on Thursday, February 19. We will have a practice run of the oral competition on Tuesday. Everybody MUST have the speech memorised for this day. Parents, please check if your child is working on memorization this weekend, and give them pointers on how they can improve their recitation.
