More About Vikings

Our week started with a unit test on measurement. There is no math homework assigned for today.

We then worked on our explorers inquiry unit. Students shared what we learned about Vikings last Friday. Students then watched a documentary about a quest to discover if the Vikings sagas are true: 

 

Following this documentary, students chose to work alone to complete worksheets to show their understanding of Viking explorers. We took up these worksheets in class They also added information about the Chinese, Polynesians, Irish, and Vikings to their Explorer Timelines. Students who did not get done in class are asked to complete this at home. Students are reminded to refer to the checklist and rubric when working on their timeline. Grade 6s will be writing a test on the explorers we have learned about so far on Thursday.

During language time, I met with students to review the progress they have made on their speeches. Each students has received individual instructions on what to work on next. Please talk to your child about next steps for their speeches.

SJA families are invited to attend the MacBeth play this Thursday at 7 pm. Parents and students in grade 5 and up will be treated to a dinner before the play. Students in Preschool  to Grade 4 will be treated to a Frozen party. Please speak to Ms. Goulart to reserve your place. Places are limited.

Students attended French and Gym class today.

Homework & Reminders

• Work on your timeline. Add information about the Chinese, Polynesians, Irish, and Vikings to the timeline
• Study for the explorers test on Thursday
• Complete persuasive speech reason 2 and 3 paragraph research and write the first drafts of the paragraphs
• Submit Aboriginal research booklet if you haven't already
• February 12th Spirit Day - wear red, pink, & white, Explorers test, MacBeth Dinner & Play, Frozen party  at 7 pm. Reserve your spot with Ms. Goulart. Places are limited.
