Learning About Spreadsheets

Our Fall Fundraiser Assembly took place at 12:30 pm today. A number of students were the top pledge raisers. They got to apply make-up, in a very comic way, to Mr. Oliver. Tomorrow is Whacky Thursday! Remember to dress as bizarrely was you would like.

All of today’s inquiry time was about OPG’s generating stations. Students used the data in their guide to graph the stations by type and energy production. We used Excel or Google Sheets for this purpose. This was a very slow process, but I think students have learned a lot about spreadsheets and how to use them for graphing. Students are to email me or print out their two OPG graphs.  These are due tomorrow. Students did not get to complete their inferences. The entire OPG Energy Mix package is to be completed for homework and submitted for marking tomorrow.

 

In our busyness, we did not get to collect mind maps. This will be collected tomorrow instead.

We did not have time for novel study today. There is no novel study homework assigned.

Students attended French and math classes today. In math, students took up the homework on exponents and were introduced to number patterns. They discussed how to identify a pattern, write the next terms in the series and described patterns. For homework, they are to complete Q. 1, 2, 3, 6 on P. 30 – 31. Reminder - tentative date for the math test - Monday, September 30.

Students enjoyed their ice cream sandwiches at lunch today.

There has been a change in the bake sale dates. The bake sale has been moved to October 1^st and 2^nd. Our class is responsible for the bake sale that takes place on these days. Students are asked to contribute bake sale items. These MUST be PEANUT and NUT FREE. Thank you.
