Electrical Safety Poster

We started the day with the Fall Fundraiser kick-off assembly. Look out for letters and pledge forms coming home today. The Fall Fundraiser runs all next week!

Once in class we had our second literature circle session. Groups met to discuss Chapter 2 of The City of Ember. I sat with Group 2 today. Students then had another good chunk of class time to read Chapter 3. For homework, they should complete the reading of Chapter 3 and their assigned response. Our next discussion takes place on Monday.

During today’s inquiry time, we finished up watching the videos from yesterday’s lesson on electrical safety. Students took more notes today.

 

We then polished up the brainstorm the class made on the criteria for an effective poster. Here is what the students decided on:

Student- Generated Criteria for an Effective Electrical Safety Poster

o choose an electrical safety tip that you think is important        o large font

o bold colours  that contrast- make it stand out                                                o picture/s or illustration

o Simple phrases                                                                                            o Neat

o Make it easily understood by all                                                           o Creativity

o Use symbols (e.g. danger symbols, electrical symbols)                              o Use printing (not cursive)

o Use a title e.g. Electrical Safety Tip (optional)

Students spent the remainder of class time working on their poster. They are to complete the poster for homework. It is due on Monday.

Students attended French, gym and math classes today. Ms. Joseph was away today. Ms. Autio filled in for her and went over the mid-unit review with the class.

There has been a change in the bake sale dates. The first bake sale has been moved to October 1^st and 2^nd. Our class is responsible for the bake sale that takes place on these days. Students are asked to contribute bake sale items. These MUST be PEANUT and NUT FREE. Thank you.
