Paper Air Planes

Day 9

Grade 6s attended French and gym class early in the day today.

Once in our class we worked on math. We took up last week’s lesson about estimating money amounts. We then did a strategy lesson involving money problems. We made good progress on the practice work in class. Some students finished all the work in class. Students should complete practice problems on p. 219 of the MMS textbook.

Students continued working on their final project for our flight inquiry unit. Students were writing procedures, folding planes, testing their planes, measuring distance traveled, and recording data into a chart. Many students continued having difficulty with folding the paper plane designs they have chosen. Some students were disappointed with their paper plane performances. They chose a different template to work with.  Students should have their devices at school tomorrow. Once data is collected in charts, students will use Excel or Google Sheets to create graph to represent their data.

We ended the day working on our international day presentation. Remember that International Day takes place on Friday afternoon. There will be no Kiss and Ride on this day.

Remember your band instruments for music class tomorrow.

o   Bring a device to create graphs that represent the data you will collect

o   Canadian Heritage Warplane Museum - Return trip form and payment

·       International Day :

o   bring any materials you need to work on your presentation tomorrow

o   Try find a Spanish dish or food that you can bring to International Day (NO NUTS or PEANUTS please) on Friday

o   Think about what you will wear to International Day
