Drafting the Essay

We still have some IB Portfolios missing today. Please return these as they are long overdue.

Today’s class time was used to work on exhibition. Students continued working on their research if they had not yet completed this component as well as planning the body of the paragraphs for their essays. The essay organiser was due for completion today. Groups who had not completed the organiser by second recess remained in class in an attempt to get caught up on this work. Tomorrow our goal will be to write the first draft of the essay in one sitting. Groups that have completed some of their paragraph drafts have received feedback from me. They are bringing these home. We ask for parents to add additional feedback suggesting ways that students can improve the ideas and content of the paragraph. We are not editing yet.

I started my second round of conferences today. Each group that met with me has received feedback on where they should be focusing their attention in order to stay on track.

During French time, students worked on their exhibition French component. Mme. Stella was not available as she was busy with parent-teacher conferences. Students were encouraged to do as much as they could without her. They can show her their progress tomorrow.

Students had math class today. Ms. Joseph reviewed dividing to find percents. Students are reminded to add the sales tax percent to 100 % and subtract the discount percent from 100% to find the sale price in each case. They practiced word problems from the worksheet. For homework they are to complete questions 6, 7, & 8 from the worksheet. The unit test has been postponed to Tuesday, April 9th as they need to complete the review for the unit.

The Grade 6 in-class bee took place this morning. Well done to Suravi for making it to the finals.

Spring fundraising payments can still be made.
