Moving Air

We began our day taking up yesterday’s test on the properties of air. Students are bringing these tests home. Please take time to review the test with your child, sign it, and return it to school tomorrow. We ended this segment of our unit by having students reflect on what they have learned by adding to the ‘Learned’ section of the KWL chart.

We then began a new round of investigations, this time involving moving air and paper. In each situation, students made predictions, carried out the investigations, and tried to explain the observations. Overall, they were surprised by the direction of movement, or lack of movement. Ask your child to explain what happened to you. Tomorrow, students will learn the ‘why’ behind what they saw today. The next test will take place on Monday, November 5th. More details about this test will follow over the remainder of this week.

Remaining class time was used to work on science fair. Students could go out to first recess if they had completed their post-construction sketch. About ¾ of the class have not reached this stage yet.

Due to Halloween/Harvest Spirit Day, we had a house game scheduled during today’s math time. We bargained with Mr. Oliver, and he reluctantly let us have his music time in order for students to be able to write the math test today. Those who did not get done in this time, used second recess as extra time. Students who completed the math test worked on their pinwheel art. We are making progress as more than half the class has now completed this.

Grade 6s attended French today.

Trip forms and payments for the warplane museum trip are now past due. Curling trip permission and waiver forms are due on Friday.

Look out for March Break Forms coming home today.

Students are receiving copies of the Guy Fakes Day poem to memorise for Monday.
