Guests

Grade 6s were treated to a special surprise today. We had guests in our class demonstrating how electrical energy is converted to light energy, specifically UVA, UVB, and UVC in a ‘robot’ that is used to kill bacteria, such as C. difficile, in hospitals. Our guests explained the circuit boards in the robot and in the sensors. They even gave us a demonstration as we looked the other way during the light pulses.

Today students participated in the final literature circle discussions of our novel. I sat with Group 4 and evaluated students based on their contributions to the group discussion.

During inquiry time, students began work on the second square of their Zentangle Pinwheels.

As today is the final day of our electricity unit, it is also the final day where we have large blocks of class time dedicated to working on our science fair projects. Starting next week, students will be using their first recess time regularly to complete this project. Today, students had an hour of class time to work on their electric cars. Students who have not managed to build a car that can move 1m were asked to further troubleshoot during first recess.

There are a few students who have not submitted the Polar Expressions Entry form. Please return this on Monday if it applies to you.

Grade 6s attended music, French, and math class today. In math, Ms. Joseph covered square roots with the class. They worked on questions from a worksheet. For homework, they should complete the worksheet.

Look out for a trip form coming home today. We will be on a trip on November 20th. Please do not order a hot lunch for this day.
