Car Building

Today and yesterday, students participated in literature circle discussions of Chapter 17 & 18 using their assigned roles. I sat with Group 1 yesterday and Group 2 today and evaluated students based on their contributions to the group discussion. Grade 6s have been assigned Chapter 19 of The City of Ember while they work on their reading responses. Students had lots of time to work on their reading in class. Any remaining work needs to be completed for homework. Novels and Duo-tangs need to be brought to school daily as we will be having novel study time daily.

During inquiry time, students worked on their Zentangle Pinwheels. Students are asked to choose the 4^th design for their next sector for homework. Students had an hour of class time to work on their electric cars. We will continue this all week long.

 

In yesterday’s language time, students wrote their own ‘Before Midnight’ poems. Today they worked on completing the entry form for the Polar Expressions Poetry and Short Story Contest. Students who did not complete this work in class are asked to complete it for homework.

Grade 6s attended music, French, and math class today. Yesterday in math, the class found GCFs using a Venn diagram and LCMs using a 100s chart. They practiced questions from the text book. For homework they were assigned worksheet questions 1-5.  Today they were introduced to the ladder method to find the GCF and LCM. They practiced questions on a worksheet. They should complete the worksheet for homework.
