What's Your Angle?

Day 8

We began working on a new math unit this morning - geometry. Our first lesson was about angles not angels ;-). We reviewed different types of angles. Students drew examples, named them, and stated their measures. Ask your child to describe acute, right, obtuse, straight, and reflex angles. Students have been assigned a geometry set for this unit. They will be responsible for keeping the contents safe until the end of the unit when the set will be returned to the school. Geometry sets need to be at school every day. We reviewed how to correctly use a protractor by discussing some common mistakes students make.  The class did sample questions to show they know how to correctly use the protractor to measure angles before being released to work on their cars. We had very little time to work on cars today as our geometry lesson was extra, extra long. We also had a fire drill today. Students are asked to complete practice questions on p. 84 & 85 of the MMS textbook. The number patterns unit test is coming home today. Please take time to review the test with your child, sign it, and return it to school tomorrow.

Students who have not completed their slideshows used their first recess to work on them. Students who have not completed their slideshows need to keep bringing their devices to school. All slideshows must be presented on Thursday.

The class had French, music, and gym class today.

Today, Avneet and Satvik presented their slideshow on hydrogen power. Thank you for teaching us.
