Recursive Patterns

Day 10
Grade 6s began their day in French class with Mme. Stella.
In Math, we took up yesterday’s homework. We learned what a recursive pattern is. Students are asked to bear this in mind as they complete today’s practice work, which is like finding the pattern in the pattern. Students are asked to complete practice work on p. 12 of the MMS textbook. Parents, ask your child to explain what a recursive pattern is.

Our first segment of UOI time was used to work on our science fair projects. We watched a couple more YouTube clips. The class then worked on their second thumbnail sketch, before heading out to recess.

The class had music with Mr. Andrei.

We got to hear two learner profile presentations today. Melia spoke about what it means to be curious, and Akash spoke about being a communicator. Thank you, you two.

Students then worked with their partner on their electrical safety posters. The goal for today was to complete the pencil draft of the poster.

We ended the day working on UOI. Students are asked to consider the environmental impact of different types of energy production. They have chosen an energy source they are interested in. They have been paired with a student that has similar interests. They will be researching this energy source to be able to explain how it works, its environmental impact in terms of pros and cons. They will be using what they find to create a slideshow where they describe their findings and whether they recommend this energy source.
