Day 6
Today, Grade
6s spent most of the day working on their electric cars. I spent time punching holes
through wheels, using an Exacto blade to cut out shapes, handing out supplies as
needed, and marking the math review. The marked math review is coming home
today. Students should take time to review and correct the package on the
weekend. The unit test takes place on Monday.
Progress on
building the cars is very typical in that we heard the sounds on engineering
and designing - shouts of elation and groans of frustration. A few more
students moved onto the testing phase of this building project today.
Sofia
presented her take on what it means to have enthusiasm. The class loved her
props. Thank you, Sofia! That concludes the learner profile presentations.
We had
debate club during second recess today. It was an impromptu debate on the topic
of vending machines. Students enjoyed making arguments and being the lively
audience. The judges decided that the ‘against’ group made more sense in their
arguments and declared them the winners.
