Construction Zone

Day 5

Grade 6s began their day with French.
Once in my class students began working through a review package for the Number Patterns Unit. Most work completed in class today has been checked. The packages are coming home today. Students are asked to complete and correct the entire package and return them to school tomorrow for marking.

In language time, we read and discussed a good tale about how a buck got its antlers. Students made a long list of the many strengths they saw in this writing piece.
After recess and lunch it was time for gym.

During our first session of UOI time, Ian presented his take on what it means to be open-minded. We had an interesting discussion. Thank you, Ian.

The remaining UOI time was used by students to complete their slideshows on their chosen type of energy production. Students who were not done stayed in during recess to attempt to complete their work. Farah and Bibi will be presenting tomorrow. Students who are not done will need to bring their devices on Monday to finish up their work.

We had UOI time again at the end of the day. Again it was a messy, busy, noisy electric car construction zone in our class. Students continue to encounter problems, troubleshoot, and make progress with a fair share of frustration and elation. A couple of students managed to get their cars to move today and completed their first test. They will now look at ways to improve their car.

The results of this term’s DRA (Developmental Reading Assessments) are coming home today. Be sure to look for this in your child’s bag.

November hot lunch forms are coming home today.
