Math Review

We began our day by working on math. We took up yesterday’s homework on sketching polygons. Students then began working on review work for Wednesday’s unit test. The class was challenged to complete review questions 1 to 6. All work that was completed in class has been checked. For homework, students are asked to do any corrections that need doing and to complete the entire review package, i.e., questions 1 to 12.  The class is asked to remember to bring the review package back to school on Tuesday, when we will take up this work.

We had our second novel study discussion groups for Bridge to Terabithia. I will be sitting with a different group each day. Students will be assessed based on their participation and responses to the group discussions. Students received class time to read and respond to chapter 3. Students who did not complete this work in class are asked to finish it up for homework. Students will be participating in a group discussion tomorrow before being assigned the next chapter to read.

Next up was UOI time. We continued reading about risky scenarios that could happen. Students were asked to identify the risk in each scenario and come up with ways to minimise the risks. Parents, please ask your child what we discussed in class. Please give your suggestions on what you think your child should do in these situations to stay safe.

Grade 6s attended Gym class with Mr. Slyk.

We ended the day with an assembly where Ms. Kominek’s Grade 5s made a presentation about the fires in Fort McMurray to the school. Students then took time to write letters to the evacuees.
