Speech Competition

Our day began with math. We took up Tuesday’s homework on Average speed.

Next up we worked on Tuck Everlasting. We began by taking up discussion questions about chapters 8 and 9. Students continued being engaged during discussions. Everyone then worked independently to read chapters 10 and 11. Students completed study guide pages 36 – 42.

Everyone then worked on getting as far as possible with their math review package. Students who did not get done in class are bringing these home to complete for homework. Please remember to return them tomorrow as I hope to check everyone’s work tomorrow. The unit test has been brought forward to Monday, February 29.

It was then time for the speech competition. Participants and supporters were equally nervous. Well done to students who represented our class. Students were placed as follows:

First place: Carter

Second place: Bhavya

Third place: Adam

Fourth place: Abel

Carter, Bhavya, and Adam won the junior competition and were selected to compete against The Maples Academy on Tuesday, March 1.

Look out for math tests and UOI tests coming home today. Please review these with your child, sign them, and return them to school. Students who scored 6 out of 10 or less on the Canada map work section will be writing a retest on the map work tomorrow. It is important to know all Canada’s provinces, capital cities, and main bodies of water. I am expecting everyone to score 100% on this retest.

Students attended French class with Mme. Villeneuve.

Look out for letters about Hatch programming and Squash coming home today.
