Our day started with math. We used class time before recess
to take up Friday’s homework on integers. After recess we completed a lesson on
strategies. We focussed on using Guess and Check to solve problems involving equations.
Students shared the strategies that help them successfully solve problems. We all
completed practice problems in class. Students are writing a unit test on Number
Patterns this Friday. We will begin review work tomorrow.
In our language time, students completed the good copy of their
narrative paragraph. We then began reading about action poems. Students wrote
an action poem on a topic of their choice. Students may consider this poem as
an entry for the Polar Expressions poetry competition coming up soon.
Some students were so excited to begin building their electric
cars that they stayed in during second recess and lunch. It was a messy time,
but a fantastic and productive buzz dominated our classroom. I am enjoying
seeing the different ideas students have for their cars. Students will be
building, testing, and improving their electric cars all this week during UOI
time.
