Descriptive Writing

Our day started with descriptive writing. We read about what should be included in a descriptive paragraph. Students read a sample of descriptive writing. They then chose a topic to write about and completed a brainstorm listing descriptive terms to include in their writing.

We used today’s math time to complete the review work on number pattern concepts in preparation for Friday’s unit test. Students are bringing home their marked work. They are asked to complete any corrections they did not get done in class for homework. Students also completed the preassessment on our next math unit – geometry. We have a class set of geometry sets that students will use while in school. They will need a protractor and compass to complete work at home.

One student has managed to complete the first test of their electric car. Many students are still problem solving various issues they are having with getting their car to work. Others are still building the car body and have yet to assemble the circuit or have assembled the circuit but have yet to build the car body. Regardless of the stage of building, Grade 6s are still looking forward to this time each day and are learning through their own and each other’s struggles and successes.

Grade 6s attended French and Gym class this morning.
