Writing the Last Two Reason Paragraphs

I was away yesterday. Ms. Shivani covered for me in my absence. Students worked to complete their research on their chosen explorer as per the chart below and as per the prompts in their graphic organizer. Some completed this work and went on to complete their 10-Step Organizer where they told the required aspects of the chosen explorer’s travels in a narrative format while deciding on and adding the doodles/pictures that will animate the story. Devices are needed on Thursday which is when most recordings will take place. Some students managed to attempt a recording practice run today during first recess. Others chose to use recess time to form study groups for today’s explorers unit test.

This is how Grade 6s choose to spend their recess. What dedication! (Or hatred of cold outdoor recesses?)

Students wrote the inquiry unit test today.
Yesterday, many students did not do their speech work as they required extra time for their math unit test. Today we had the task of getting caught up. Students had two sessions of silent 30 minute ‘write the paragraph in one sitting’. This helped almost all students catch up in their work. I managed to read and provide feedback on all paragraphs for all students who completed their work today. Parents, please add your feedback to these paragraphs today. Students are to make improvements to the ideas and content as per feedback they received. All revised drafts for the 3 reason paragraphs are due on Thursday. Students are advised to get this done today as they will be tired tomorrow after skiing or snowboarding all day.
Students attended Music class with Mr. Oliver and math class with Ms. Joseph. Mme Stella is away this week. We used some of her French time to catch up on speech work. Students who got all their speech work done worked on their French summative projects which are due this Friday. In math students wrote the pre-assessment task for their next math unit.
