Welcome to Canda's PEPS

We began our day working on language, exploring persuasive writing, this time in the format of a letter. We read student samples of persuasive letter writing. The class worked on generating a list of criteria that make for an effective piece of writing. I also conferenced with half the students in the class today to discuss their areas of strength and areas that need improvement.

Next we worked on our Canada in the World inquiry unit. Students were introduced to one of the summative tasks for this unit. They are to use their knowledge of PEPS aspects, and explore how these features in a particular town/city/province/territory in Canada may be used to attract newcomers to this area. There are a number of steps to complete this project. Today’s goal was to understand the expectations, recognise how to effectively use the internet as a source of information, and to complete the research component. Students have partnered up as follows for this project:

Devices are needed all next week as students work on this summative project.

Students had gym, French and math class today. For French homework, students are to complete the Le Pronom ‘4’ worksheet. In math, students reviewed congruent figures. They are reminded to list the corresponding vertices of the figures in the same order. Two triangles are congruent if the corresponding sides are equal or 2 sides and included angles are same or when 2 angles and the side between them are same. They practiced questions from textbook - Page 258 - Q 2, 3 (a-d). For homework they are to complete Question 5 on page 258 of the MMS 7 textbook and the Questions 1 & 4 of the mid-unit review.

Re-registration packages are past due. Please send these in as soon as possible. We look forward to seeing you back for next year!

We are skiing & snowboarding tomorrow. Students are to arrive at 6:45 am. They should be in casual dress appropriate for tomorrow’s weather conditions. They need to bring coats, snow pants, boots, gloves, goggles (if they have), money for lunch/lunch, snacks, and a change of clothes.

Graduation & sibling photos will be taken this Friday.
