We began our day working on language. Using their learning since the beginning of January and the feedback they have received, Grade 6s wrote this term’s Ontario Writing post-assessment first thing this morning.

Next we worked on our Canada in the World inquiry unit. Students continued working on their ‘Welcome to _______, Canada’ summative task. Today’s goal was to complete the video, record the narration, upload the video to YouTube, and send me the link. This task was interrupted with graduation pictures. Most students were not able to complete the work. As a result, I will allow about an hour of class time on Monday for students to finish up this task.

Students had music, French and math class today. In math, students reviewed transformations and discussed yesterday’s homework. They were introduced to tiling patterns. Students are reminded that when congruent copies of a figure cover a page and leave no gaps, the figure tiles the plane. A triangle and quadrilateral always tiles the plane as they leaves no gaps and at any point where the vertices meet, the angles add to 360. Students practiced questions from the text book. For homework they are to complete the worksheet. The tentative date for the next math unit test is Monday, March 4^th, 2019.
