Rates

Day 6

We continued working on our Fractions, Percents, Ratios, and Rates math unit. Today’s lesson was all about rates. We did a lot of practice work in class in order to ensure that everyone had a good grasp of concepts. As a result we did not have much time in class for students to work on homework practice work. Students are asked to complete practice questions on p. 330 – 331 of the MMS textbook for homework. The math unit test will take place on Thursday, April 20th

The rest of class time was spent working on exhibition. Today’s goal was to complete the French component in English and have it approved by me. Students who did not get this far had to use recess time to get finished up.  The next goals for today were to make progress on the action components and make a decision about the oral component. Groups decided that they would like to use either Prezi or a Power Point for their oral component. Groups should have devices at school to work on these. As a class, students created a checklist of criteria for their Prezi’s and PowerPoints. Some groups were also working on a gym game.

Mr. Oliver joined us at the end of the day. He and the class had a lot of fun planning and practicing the creative component. Students should bring any costumes and props they need by Thursday this week as they will be shooting the video on Tuesday, after the long weekend.

Students attended French class with Mme. Stella.

Look out for letters coming home today. The first is about graduation events for the Grade 6s graduating from the PYP Programme. The second are about the annual SJA Spring Fundraiser beginning soon.

We have a lot of action taking place around the school!

Jacob and Husmeen are collecting materials to donate to an animal shelter for their exhibition project. They are looking for cat litter. Cat food, toys for pets, clothing for pets, old blankets, animal bowls, or anything you think may help.

Vishva in Ms. Hung’s Grade 3 class, recently became an Earth Ranger is holding a battery drive until Friday, April 7. Please bring in any old batteries and we will pass them along to Vishva.
