Exhibition: Essay, Typed

Day 3

We continued working on our Fractions, Percents, Ratios, and Rates math unit. We took up yesterday’s homework and then did a lesson on exploring ratios. Students learned that we write ratios as part-to-part ratios or as part-to-whole ratios. They found this concept easy and many in the class made excellent progress on today’s practice work. Students are asked to complete practice questions on p. 322 – 323 of the MMS textbook.
We attended the Oakwood Cultural Market and talent show this morning.

The rest of class time was spent working on exhibition. Today’s goal was to type up the essay as a group using Google Docs. We began exhibition class time by having a mini-lesson on how to format text in Microsoft Word and in Google Docs to have a specific font type, size, and line spacing as well as adding headers and page numbers. Students were amazed that they could all be on separate devices while typing on the same document. Students who completed the typing in class self- and peer-edited their work, used their editing checklist to check their work, added a title and sources cited page, before sharing the document with me through Google Docs.  Students who did not complete this work in class are asked to complete it as homework.

Students are reminded to return the squash permission forms. This trip takes place on Monday.

SJA’s first Talent Show will take place this Friday, April 7th, with a variety of performances from SJA/Oakwood students in JK-Grade 6! The event will begin at 9:30 am and is expected to finish by 11 am. Friends and family are welcome to come watch this entertaining event to show support for the students who are performing in this year’s show.
