Viking Explorers

Day 7

We began our day with math. We took up Friday’s work on rotational symmetry. We then did a new lesson on showing your thinking in a strategies lesson. Students are asked to complete practice questions on p. 275 of the MMS textbook. We are hoping to write the unit test for Transformational Geometry Tuesday, February 21st.

Next up was novel study time. We discussed the discussion questions for chapters 9 and 10 of Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt as a class.  Students are asked to read chapters 11 and 12 and complete response pages 37 to 38 for Wednesday, February 15th. We will have novel studies on each day that we do NOT have music

During today’s speech time, six brave students volunteered to say their speeches to the class. Each student received feedback from the class on what they are doing well and what they need to improve on. Overall everyone needs to work on speaking more slowly, clearly, much more loudly, and with more expression. Everyone buddied up with a friend and the two practiced saying their speech to each other and gave each other feedback too. Some students have not completed their cue cards. Please catch up this work for homework today. Everyone should work on memorising their speech. The in-class contest take place in a week.

During inquiry time we reviewed what we learned about Asian, Polynesian, Irish, and Viking Explorers. Students began work on their Viking worksheets. We began watching a history documentary about the Vikings.

Students attended French and gym class today.

A few students have not yet returned their City of Ember books. Please do this as soon as possible.

Remember to send me the link to your Powtoon project by this evening.

Tomorrow is a Valentines Spirit Day. Come to school dressed in red, white, and pink.

Remember your instrument for music tomorrow.
