Day 10

Graduation photos were taken today. The Grade 6s had fun wearing the ‘Batman Suit’.

We began our day with speeches. I have now checked almost all reason 1 paragraphs. Students spent today writing their reason 2 paragraph.  Revised copies of the second reason paragraph need to be rewritten and are due tomorrow. Students that did not complete Reason 2 paragraph need to complete it for homework.

Students wrote the Math Measurement unit test today.

During inquiry time we continued work on our new Explorers unit. Today we considered who was the first person or people to discover North America. We heard about Columbus, Cabot, the Vikings, and hunters and gatherers. We used a timeline to better understand the sequence of events. Ask your child to explain what they learned about who was first on the North American continent.

Students attended music, gym, and French class today.

A few students have not yet returned their City of Ember books. Please do this as soon as possible.

Remember to have your novel study work at school tomorrow.

Reregistration

It is hard to believe, but the time is here already – re-registration is upon us! Re-registrations forms have been sent home. The deadline to re-register is February 9. After that we open up spaces to the public. Do not delay – reserve your spot today for grade 7!

o   Complete and return your IB portfolio if you did not get done in class

·         Speech:

o   Get your speech letter signed if you have not already done this

o   Get caught up if you are falling behind with your speech work

o   Revised and rewritten reason # 2 paragraph  is due tomorrow

·         Novel Study – due tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 3

o   Read chapter 3 & 4

o   Complete response pages 13– 19
