PowToon

Day 1

We began our day with math. We began work on a new unit – transformational Geometry. Today we reviewed translations, reflections, and rotations. Students are asked to complete practice questions on p. 250 – 251 of the MMS textbook.

Next we worked on speeches. I began checking reason # 2 paragraphs while students worked on writing their reason # 3 paragraphs. Students that did not complete Reason 3 paragraph need to complete it for homework.

Next up was novel study time. We discussed the discussion questions for chapters 3 and 4 of Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt as a class.  Students are asked to read chapters 5 and 5 and complete response pages 20 to 27 for Tuesday, Feb. 7th. We will have novel studies on each day that we do NOT have music.

During inquiry time students learned about their first project where they will be creating a PowToon to describe an aboriginal group they have chosen to research as follows:

Beothuk: Arya, Sakshi

Huron/Wendat: Sofia

Metis: Kaaya

Cree: Eghosa, Melia

Ojibwa: Alffino

Iroquois: Ian, Jierui

Algonquin: Sai

Haida: Avneet, Bibi

Inuit: Christina, Akash

M’iqmaq: Farah, Husmeen

Blackfoot: Jacob, Satvik

Mowhawk: Leah, Areej

Students received packages to guide them through this project. They need to create a PowToon account this weekend. They will need devices next week to work on this project. All PowToon projects are due end of day Wednesday.

Students attended gym and French class today.

A few students have not yet returned their City of Ember books. Please do this as soon as possible.
