Similar Figures

Day 4

We began our day with math. We took up yesterday’s work on congruent figures. We then did a new lesson on similar figures. Students learned that similar figures have the same shape and equal corresponding angles, but they are a different size and do not coincide. Students used tans to explore similar triangles. They received grid paper to help them complete their work. Students are asked to complete practice questions on p. 262– 263 of the MMS textbook. Please return all measurement tests.

Next we worked on speeches. We had very little time for speeches today. I almost finished checking student’s counterargument paragraphs while students worked on writing their introduction and conclusions. Students that did not complete the introduction and conclusion need to complete them for homework. These are due tomorrow.

During inquiry time some students reported that they had trouble with recording their PowToon narration last night. We tried to troubleshoot issues that students were experiencing. Those who had completed their narration worked on creating their PowToon slides. Unfortunately there is no more class time that can be allocated for this project. To allow students to deal with issues, the due date for this project is being moved to Monday, February 13^th for those that need it

Students attended music, French, and gym class today.

We will have novel study tomorrow. Please remember your novels and Duo-Tangs.

A few students have not yet returned their City of Ember books. Please do this as soon as possible.

French trip letters and payment are due on Friday.

Reregistration

It is hard to believe, but the time is here already – re-registration is upon us! Re-registrations forms have been sent home. The deadline to re-register is February 9. After that we open up spaces to the public. Do not delay – reserve your spot today for grade 7!
