Hot Air Balloons

Day 4

We had a relaxing Friday.

Grade 6s began their day attending music. We had a bit of extra music time where we showed Mr. Oliver our Christmas song. He gave us some advice to improve our performance. Students are bringing their words home with them. They are asked to practice the song with proper and clear enunciation. The link below will help them with the melody.

We did not have math today and there is no math homework assigned for the weekend. Students will be writing the Data Measurement test on Tuesday, December 20 or on Wednesday, December 21, depending on how long it takes us to complete the review work.

In our first session of UOI time, we related flying machines to art. Our papier mache balloons have dried. To turn them into hot air balloons, we needed a clear canvas to begin with. Students painted their balloons white. They then looked up hot air balloons on the internet for design ideas.

They then attended French class with Mme. Stella.

After French students sketched their design onto their canvas and began painting. It was a messy activity but not as messy as yesterday.

Students attended gym class today.

Students are asked to complete their Air Mind Map for homework using the criteria they generated yesterday. The mind map is due on Monday.

-use curved lines (apparently our brains prefer this)

-pictures (they represent a 1000 words to our brains)

-neatness

-bright colours (our brains are stimulated by this)

-include the experiments we did that demonstrate the properties of air

-information must be accurate

-use key words

-summarise your notes

-use bold titles

Students will then use the mind map to study for a test on the properties of air. This test will be written on Thursday, December 15.

Remember to return reregistration packages.
