Aerodynamics

Day 5

We have under two weeks of school before the Christmas Break begins.

Students began their week attending French class with Mme. Stella. Once in our class we had math. We first took up Friday’s practice work on constructing and interpreting graphs. We then did a new lesson on coordinates. Students are asked to complete the practice work on page 188 & 189 of the MMS textbook. The Data Measurement test will be written pm on Tuesday, December 20.

We had a short Christmas concert rehearsal time.

After recess, students had gym. Once back from gym they participated in peer assessment activity. Students switched mind maps with another student in the class. Everyone used the student generated list of criteria to assess the mind map. They gave the work sample feedback by describing strengths and areas for improvement. Students all have received their own mind maps back which they should now use as a tool to study for Thursday’s test on the properties of air.

Students then continued working on their papier mache hot air balloons. While they did this, I began conferencing with students about their OWA preassessments on persuasive letter writing.

In our last segment of UOI time, we learned about aerodynamics. Students conducted 4 experiments with moving air. In each case, they had results they did not expect. Students made hypotheses to explain their observations. Ask your child to describe their observations to you.

Remember to return reregistration packages.

Look out for after-care statements coming home with some students today.

Scholastic orders are due on Wednesday.
