Air Expands and Contracts

Day 2

We began our day with math. We took up yesterday’s math homework on means, modes, and medians. We then then did a strategy lesson where we looked at logical thinking. We spent 30 minutes on a practice problem just because there were so many different ways to solve this problem. Students are asked to complete practice questions on p. 177 of the MMS textbook.

In our UOI time we finished up our investigations into the properties of air. Today we conducted an experiment that showed us that air expands and rises when heated and contracts and sinks when cooled. We have a little more theory to cover tomorrow before we can look at our first flying device – the hot air balloon. We are excited to begin work on our hot air balloon art project tomorrow. Students are reminded to bring in a big old t-shirt to use as an art smock and some newspaper.

We finally did a little work on our Christmas concert performance today.

Students attended music, French, and gym class today.

There were some errors in the Parent-Teacher Conference appointment times that went home yesterday. Please look for a revised Parent-Teacher conference letter coming home today.

Look out for reregistration packages and January hot lunch order forms coming home today.
