Energy Transformations

Day 7

In math we continued working on whole numbers. We took up yesterday’s homework. We then began our next lesson using an organised list as a strategy to solve problems. We practiced this strategy on different word problems. We managed to take up the explore, connect and first practice problems in class. Students are asked to complete the last practice question on p. 49 of the MMS textbook.

We began our UOI time by being an audience to Christina’s presentation on what it means to be balanced. Christina’s discussion time led to student contributions about their lifestyles which we then analysed to determine if they were balanced. Thank you, Christina!

Students played with battery-operated toys today in order to observe energy transformations. We spent time discussing different types of energy: solar, sound, heat, kinetic, potential, chemical, mechanical, and electrical. Ask your child to explain these energy types to you. Students then worked on a mind map to show everything they have learned about electricity so far in this unit.

The class (except students working their reading assessments) attended Gym and French class today.

See you at the Welcome BBQ later today!
