Hinduism

Today was moving day. We worked in the main building. There was also a soccer and choir trip taking place that some of our students were participating in. As a result, we had a very small group of students in Grade 6 today.

We did a math lesson where we learned how probabilities can be expressed as fractions and decimals. Our recent math unit on percents, decimals, ratios, and rates was a great help in today’s work. Students are reminded to begin each problem by first determining the total number of possible outcomes and using this number as the denominator I their fraction. Students converted their fractions to a fraction where the dominator is 100. This made it easy to write as a percent or decimal. Students are asked to complete questions on p. 414 & 415 of the textbook.

We had inquiry time next. We were treated to a special guest visit by Dave and Gina. They spoke to the class about Hinduism. They described what Hindus believe about god, important figures in this belief system, about the many festivals that Hindus celebrate in the year, and much, much more. The class came away being much more informed about Hinduism.
