Christianity

We began our very short week with a math lesson on patterns in geometry. Students learned about Euler's Formula for prisms, and learned through investigation that the formula holds true for pyramids. Students described patterns they observed, recorded patterns in tables, and graphed them. Students are asked to complete the questions on p. 390 & 391 of the MMS textbook. Students are bringing  square-dot dot paper and 0.5 cm grid paper home with them. Students will be writing a unit test on Tuesday, May 26. Math tests are coming home with students today. Please take time to review, sign, and return the tests.

It was then time for our inquiry unit, Religion Rules! We learned about Christianity today. Pastor Andrew Wood, from Grace Community Church was our guest speaker. He spoke to the class about what Christians believe about God, their laws and values, important figures, worship, and celebrations, and more. The students asked Pastor Andrew many excellent questions about Christianity.

We began working on our final novel study for the year. Students will be reading, responding to, and discussing Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. This book is a historical fiction that ties in to our Religion Rules inquiry unit. Today, students read and responded to chapters 1 and 2 of this book.

Grade 6s attended French, and Gym class today.

Soccer letters are coming home with some students. Look out for Yearbook and Carrassauga letters coming home today.

Parents are reminded that this Friday is a PD Day for teachers. There is no school for students.
