Spirit Day

Today was a different day to what we are used to. The day began with Easter Spirit Day games. Students participated in egg races. Brave teachers smashed eggs, raw and boiled, on their heads in an effort to win house points for their teams. Well done to Zeta for winning both games. Well done to Kappa for the leading the house cup race.

We began our day with a math lesson on estimating and finding percents. Again, students found the work challenging. We spent all our practice time working together to solve the practice questions. We got up to question 5. Students are asked to complete the remaining questions  on p. 319 of the MMS textbook for homework. Students are encouraged to refer to previous problems to remind themselves of how to solve problems.

In today's inquiry time, students were referred to their central idea, lines on inquiry, and concept questions. They checked to see if they had collected all the information required.
They then worked as a group to brainstorm the paragraphs for their essay or report. Students divided up the work. Each student was responsible to write the first draft of at least one paragraph or more today. We will be reading these paragraphs on Tuesday. There was no French class today. Students used this time to work on their paragraph writing. Students who did complete their paragraphs in the time given were kept out of recess and gym class to complete their work.
