Ratios

We began our day with a math lesson on ratios. Students learned that ratios compare two quantities with the same unit. Students wrote part-to-part ratios and part-to-whole ratios. The class found this work easy and many completed all the practice work in the class time given. Students who did not get done in class are asked to complete the remaining questions  on p. 322 & 323 of the MMS textbook for homework.

In today's inquiry time, students read the paragraph they wrote on Thursday to their group. The group referred to their central idea, lines of inquiry, and concept questions to ensure each inquiry question had been addressed in the combined paragraphs. Students gave each other feedback on what was done well, what is missing, and what needs to be changed in the paragraphs. I met with some groups to give feedback. Some groups also met with their mentors for additional feedback. Many students had to research information that was missing from their paragraphs. Students used their exhibition class time to work on the second draft of their paragraph. Second drafts are due tomorrow. Students who did not get done missed specialist classes and recesses in an effort to catch up. Our goal is to have good copies done by Friday.

31 Days Till Exhibition

Groups who have had their art ideas approved should begin bringing in art supplies.
