Working on the PowToons

On December 17, 2019, students from Grade 3 to Grade 8 will put on two performances at the St. Jude’s Academy Dome. Our afternoon performance will begin at 1:00 pm, with doors opening at 12:30. Our evening performance will begin at 6:30 pm, with doors opening at 6:15 pm. Seating is on a first come, first serve basis. Please keep in mind that outside food and drinks are not permitted in the Dome.
For our evening performance, families are welcome to take our shuttle from St. Jude’s to the Dome and back. Shuttles will begin running from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Please meet in the main office.
We encourage all families to come bundled up to stay warm and cozy for the entire show. The students and teachers have put a tremendous amount of work into their performances and kindly ask that all families stay and enjoy the show until the end.

We began our day with novel study time. We took up discussion questions about Chapters 16, 17, & 18 as a class. Students had no time to work on today’s reading and homework. They are to read Chapters 19, 20, & 21 and to complete pages 48- 54 in the guide for homework. This work is due tomorrow.

Students continued their research on their chosen indigenous people group throughout the day. I continued meeting with students regarding their note-taking ad research. Students who did not complete their research in class today are to complete it for homework. This work is due tomorrow. Most students are now working on their PowToons. They will have class time tomorrow to finish up this work. Narrations are allowed to be done at home. Final PowToons are due on Monday, December 16th. Devices are needed for the remainder of this week as students continue working on this project.

Students attended French and math today. In math, students began working on their new unit - Data Management. They discussed the terms mean, median and mode. Students practiced a couple of questions to find the mean, median and mode of a set of numbers. Students are reminded to arrange the numbers in order to find the median. They also discussed primary data and secondary data. For homework the are to complete Page 168 - Q 1c and 1d and Page 170 - Q 1 & 2.
