Science Fair Awards

The Science Fair Award Ceremony began our day. Mr. Neal and Mr. Whetstone made us laugh with their antics. Congratulations to Divyansh, Jaiden, and Emana for placing first, second, and third for their electric cars in our class.

In class students began working on painting their hot air balloons. This was a fun, but again very messy time.

Students are asked to prepare to weave their hot air balloon baskets. To do this they had to choose two colours of construction paper. These were cut into strips. The strips need to be folded twice. All strips must be folded for tomorrow. Students are to watch the video below to understand how to fold the strips and how to weave the basket.

Devices are needed for tomorrow’s class when students will present their research projects about flying devices and their connections to society and/or the environment.

Students received their parts of a plane and movement test back today. We took up the answers as a class in order that students understand how marks were allocated and where they went wrong, if they did. Please review the test with your child, sign it, and return it to school tomorrow.

Finally, we spent some class time reviewing our Christmas Concert performance. Forms about costumes went home yesterday. Forms and payment are due on Friday.

Grade 6s attended P.E. class with Mr. Orr and math class with Ms. Joseph. In math students took up the homework on adding fractions with different denominators and reviewed this concept again. Students are reminded to use the LCM to find the common denominator. They also practiced adding three fractions and word problems on addition of fractions. For homework they are to complete Q 8b and 8c on Page 130.

The lunch site is open for December lunches. It will close Wednesday, November 20th at 3:00pm. Special of the month: Spaghetti and Meatballs which is available every Friday. All payments are to be made through QuickBooks by December 6th.
