We did review work on our fractions and decimals unit to
prepare for Thursday's unit test. We will continue to review on Wednesday and
write the test on Thursday.
In language, students began work on list 26 spelling words -
Spell plural nouns that end with y: holidays, parties, stories, flies,
birthdays, copies, duties, ladies, counties, valleys, groceries, hobbies,
libraries, highways, batteries, injuries, cherries, melodies, surveys,
communities. Because students attended art class today, we did not have class
time for speeches. Students should wok on memorising their entire speech.
We continued with our inquiry unit on Pioneers. Students
worked independently or in a group to discover the way of life for pioneer
children. Students had many new pioneer-related words to add to our class chart
of A-Z of pioneer words. When they were done, they were challenged to complete
an tenth page of their own A-Z booklet.
We ended our day with a novel study. We had a great
discussion of Laura's first trip to a town. Many students found it hard to
relate to Laura when she was scared of how big the sky was. Students then had
class time to read chapter 10. Chapter 10's response pages are due on Thursday.
