Pentominoes

The students completed their Prezi presentations today. This time was enjoyed by all. The children  have a sense of accomplishment. They began this unit not knowing what Prezi was, and now they have successfully used this platform to show their research. We discussed the pros and cons of Prezi versus PowerPoint. The class is split down the middle between those who prefer Prezi and those that prefer PowerPoint.

In language, students wrote their list 8 spelling tests. Look out for these tests coming home today. They wrote a quiz to show what they know about comma use. This quiz will come home in about a week. We continued working on using quotations to show what has been said by a speaker.

In arithmetic, students completed review work and wrote a quiz to show their understanding. In math, we used Microsoft Word's Draw feature to create pentominoes. Students were challenged to come up with 12 different pentominoes. The students managed to come with 4. Students may use weekend time to see if they can create 12 different figures.

We ended the day reading with our SK reading buddies.
